Will Lifting Weights Make Me Bulky?

Let's define “Bulky”: taking up much space, typically inconveniently; large and unwieldy. (of a person) heavily built. (Heavy Built, Stocky, Thickset, burly, hefty, strapping)Now let’s get down to the answer to this widely asked question. If you are female, The Short answer is No. If you are a male, the answer is possibly, but most guys wouldn't mind being “strapping”. Lifting weights helps build physical strength and power for things like opening heavy doors, picking up your child, carrying all your groceries in at once, moving the couch in the living room by yourself, maybe in the worst of circumstances having to defend yourself. Most Important is self-confidence, being ABLE to do things. As you age, if there isn't any kind of resistance work for the body to adapt to, it will slowly degrade and become incapable of doing even the simplest of tasks. We all know someone who struggles to walk around, needing assistance to get up and down from a chair or in and out of a car. Or worse yet get up off the toilet. Now let’s talk about what WILL make you “Bulky”. Overeating, processed and fake foods, candy, fast food, eating only once per day, sitting around and not moving/exercising, drinking sugar beverages, and so on. All of these will lead to an increase in body fat, both on the outside and inside of your body. Leading to a very bulky, thickset, obese physical shape. So in the end, what's your choice?Let’s Take action, start caring for your body, lift weights effectively and build some self-confidence and the ability to do things. There is no shortage of options.
