Be Brave Enough to Suck at Something New

Thomas Edison is credited with saying “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” do we feel like we should be good at something we’ve just started? Cart before the horse. The millions in the bank and we don’t know how to be a millionaire…We see videos, pictures, memes all over the interweb… 😱We see the finished product, not the countless hours and failures. In the world of health and fitness, it is no different. We see the guy with the 500lb squat, the girl with the six-pack abs, or the champion Cross fitter and say I should have that, why can’t I have that, I can do that. Most of us will never achieve our goals, why? Because we are not willing to Suck at Something for a really long time and keep working at it, day in and day out. We battle with the little voice in our heads, we internalize our failures and quit. We begin to fear failure. Each time we fail at a new venture, a new relationship, or a new career, it gets more and more difficult to keep going—at least with the same stamina and optimism a before. WinstonWinston Churchill defines success as the ability of going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm. But Failure is good. It teaches us....Focus on what you learned in that experience rather than the negativity of the failure. Small steps and small actions are better than doing nothing.Failure creates empathy. Failing feels downright awful, but gives us the opportunity to help others who have experienced the same struggles and provide some guidance and wisdom. MostMost of all it creates humility. Being humbled is necessary for growth. Getting your ass kicked is necessary, with it comes respect and a clearer understanding of the hard work necessary to win and be successful. We appreciate the win and we appreciate the loss. Go Get it!
